The Council on Aging will present Lake County’s 19th edition of March for Meals on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 8 am to 10 am at the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor.  March for Meals isn't just a fundraiser — it's a lifeline. With your unwavering support, we can continue delivering vital nutrition and warm smiles to Lake County’s seniors, combatting isolation among our cherished older adults with every step we take together. The March for Meals this year will include two options – join us IN PERSON for an indoor walk at the Great Lakes Mall on Saturday, March 28th, or sign up to walk virtually wherever you are!  If you’ve been with us in the past, you know what a fun and exciting morning March for Meals will be.  If you haven't experienced March For Meals, we look forward to seeing you on March 28th.  Participants can join individually or as part of a walk team. Big Footer 5K and Walk helps support at raise awareness for Special Olympics Lake County. ​Course Description: The 3.1 mile course is paved and runs through the Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood Campus near the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor. It includes one hill. Persons over the age of 70 years or those in the military receive FREE registrations. Runners/walkers who dress up like Big Foot receive FREE race entries. Entry with ID only. No bikes or rollerblades. ​Participants are given an original Big Footer T-shirt, a race packet, and a pancake breakfast. There are prizes for race day contests, such as spotting the most Big Foots or receiving a flag from Big Foot himself. Spring Thaw 10 Miler & 5K – March 29, 2026 Location: Veteran's Park Choose between a challenging 10-mile distance or a shorter 5K. The 10 mile event starts and finishes at Lake Metroparks Veterans Park and winds through local neighborhoods and the scenic Mentor Lagoons.  The 5k Starts and finishes inside Veterans Park.  All registered runners receive race swag, aid-station support, and a finisher medal. Donut 5K – April 12, 2026 Location: Mentor NissanStart Time: 9:00 AM WE RUN FOR DONUTS! Run like there’s a donut at the finish line… oh wait, there is! Join us for a fun, sweet, and sprinkle-filled run that celebrates your love for running and donuts. All participants receive a FINISHER MEDAL and a race shirt, plus a delicious donut waiting for you at the finish line. Mentor High School would like to invite you and your team to Ohio's longest running Relay meet, the Mentor Cardinal Relays on Thursday, April 17th 2025. We would like to provide your team a great track meet experience before the holiday weekend. This year Nike and Second Sole Mentor will be providing special awards, custom meet medals, along with a Nike interactive tent and photo booth. We will also have a catered dinner for all coaches. New this year will be the girls and boys Nike Elite 5000. Field events will start at 3:00pm and running events at 3:30pm. We are striving to return this meet to its former Ohio glory by adding some new twists with new events and a new order of events. Entry fee is $300.00 for both teams or $150.00 for one gender. Cost for individuals is $50.00 without a full team. Meet limit will be 16 full teams per gender. All school contracts will be on Dragonfly. Each year “Johnny’s Run” is conducted in the memory of Spc. John J. Kovach to benefit charities that help others in need.  Johnny’s life, cut tragically short  , was one marked with a zest for life and service to others.  Johnny’s giving spirit lives on, through and beyond the lives he touched, with the charity raised at the event named in his honor.  This is our 16th annual run and we would love it if you came out and honored Johnny and raised money for a great cause. What Do I Get? All participants receive a custom race bib, race shirt, and a FINISHER MEDAL! What Do I Need to Do? First, you need to REGISTER! This is going to be a LIVE event. The 2026 Greater Cleveland XC Camp is geared for the beginner to the advanced runner, who are looking to have a better focus on the fundamentals of cross country running and conditioning, to obtain maximum benefit. Through group runs, guest speakers, and group activities, each runner will leave with a positive attitude, tools to become an improved runner, and a better understanding of running. The XC camp will be held Tuesday, July 21st through Saturday, July 25th from 8 am until 11:30 am at Shore Middle School in Mentor, Ohio. The camp is open to boys and girls from kindergarten through 12th grade. While being able to utilize the school facilities, the camp also features an outdoor amphitheater for group activity, a cross country course, access to a Lake Metropark, miles of bike paths, and rural trails through the Mentor Marsh for training.
