The Manion WOD (Workout of the Day) is a powerful tribute to 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, designed to unite veterans, families of the fallen, and inspired civilians in honoring one of our nation’s heroes. Hosted by CrossFit boxes, ruck clubs, and gyms nationwide—or completed virtually anytime, anywhere—this workout challenges its participants to push harder, go further, and grow stronger in memory of those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. Join us for the annual 5K Run/Walk with Gusto, held in honor of Steve Hula, former owner of Gusto Coffee Shop and a man who deeply loved this community. All proceeds from this event support three incredible ministries that serve people in need: • City Union Mission• Rended Hearts Ministry – rescuing victims of human trafficking• God’s Bucket Brigade – serving the homeless The race starts and finishes at Gusto Coffee Shop and winds through the scenic beauty of Longview Lake in Jackson County. This event truly reflects the heart of the community. You'll see serious runners at the front of the pack, families enjoying the morning together, kids on bikes, and walkers with dogs and strollers bringing up the rear. This is the 45th Annual Night Flight 5K Run.  Night Flight will take place at Legacy Park Amphitheater on Friday, May 29th.   Packet pick-up will be held at Lee's Summit Medical Center, 2100 SE Blue Parkway, on Thursday, May 28th from 4:00-6:00pm. Packet pick-up and late registration will be held on Friday, May 29th from 4:00-7:00 pm at Legacy Park Amphitheater. The course features a scenic route on the Legacy trail. Participants will be allowed to enjoy yard games and snacks in the Legacy Park Amphitheater venue after the race. The event is co-sponsored by Lee’s Summit Medical Center and Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation. The event starts and finishes at the Legacy Park Amphitheater. The run will use the trails and roadways (Bluestem drive and Legacy Park Drive) of Legacy Park. It's a race for everyone, with a fun foam finish!You'll run, walk, skip, cartwheel, hop, etc just one-half of a kilometer, knowing that 100% of your entry fee will be used to build beds for children in our community with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Stick around after the race to get a banana and a medal, and to play in the foam!
