Half Marathon Training This training program is designed for individuals hoping to complete a half marathon!  Whatever your pace, we've got you covered.  We even have walk/run groups who train for the half marathon! Get Your Move On Program This training program is designed for individuals who want to keep moving through the winter with friends!  This program is designed for walkers, runners, and everyone in between.  The goal is to keep your body moving however movement looks for you.  The training guide begins at 20 minutes of movement and builds from there.  Participants who are starting new in this program will be prepared

KDP Chocolate Milk Mile

Welcome to the 2026 KDP Chocolate Milk Mile! This is our third year running. All ages are welcome to participate!    How does it work? Every competitor must finish 16 ounces of chocolate milk before each quarter mile for a total of 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk and 1 mile of running. Chocolate milk will be provided for each competitor! (If you need an alternative option such as lactose free milk, you must bring it yourself. If you intend to bring your own milk, please send an email to gavinsehy0@gmail.com so we can buy the correct amount of milk Please only bring your own milk if you really need to. We want everyone to be on an even playing field, thanks!)   When: Saturday March 28th. Kal-Haven Trail Run

April 11th   About This Event:The Kal-Haven Trail Run is the Southwest Michigan Hometown Ultra, a great first ultra for anyone looking to expand their running beyond 26.2 miles, and a great hometown ultra to keep challenging yourself to a new PR every year. If an ultra is not for you, this run allows participants from all fitness levels to be involved as a 2-person relay team (duo), or 3-6 person relay team. Shake off those winter cobwebs and run the relay with your best run friends!!   The KAR Kal-Haven Ultra Run will be held on the Kal-Haven Trail State Park, offering a scenic, gently downhill run from “the Caboose” in Kalamazoo to South Haven (almost to the beach, but not quite).  There are ten aid stations that will energize runners with food, hydration, and awesome encouragement. These stations also provide runners with relay switch points while also supporting an opportunity for “fans” to support their runners. Spring Fast Track 5k & 10k Training Program - Kalamazoo

Join us for the spring session of the 2026 Fast Track 5k and 10K Training Program (Kalamazoo) presented by Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR).  The Fast Track program offers two levels of workouts designed to meet your goals whether beginner or experienced runner.  Led by trained KAR coaches, the program targets the Kalamazoo Klassic and includes training schedules, individual guidance, clinics and structured Wednesday track workouts in a fun and supportive environment.   The Wednesday track sessions are conducted 6:00 to 7:30 pm at WMU Kanley Track and programs run 9 weeks from April 14 to June 9.  Program Levels:  * Fast Track II (Introduction to Speedwork 5k & 10k Program) – Geared towards transitioning a runner who has some 5k and/or 10k running experience, but is new to track workouts and is looking for a lower mileage program (under 20 miles/week). * Fast Track III (Competitive Speedwork 5k & 10k Program) – Geared towards competitive runners with 5k and/or 10k racing and track

CPT Drew Russell Warrior Run

THE CPT DREW RUSSELL Warrior RUN IS GOING TO HAVE A "LIVE" AND VIRTUAL RACE FOR 2026 About This Event: This 5K Run/Walk is in memory of Captain Drew Russell, a WMU ROTC alumni. He was Killed-In-Action in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan on October 8, 2011. As an active member within his community of Scotts, Michigan and a 2004 graduate of Vicksburg High School, he is remembered as a stand-up man who was always looking out for his friends and family with a great sense of humor. After earning his commission as a Second Lieutenant in Armor through Western Michigan University’s ROTC Program, he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado to carry out his time as an active duty Armor officer. Captain Russell was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart for his actions in battle. He was survived by his mother, Patti, his father, Jim and his brother, James. In Captain Russell’s remembrance, an endowed scholarship was established for Western Michigan University students

Healthy Kids Running Series Spring 2026 - Kalamazoo, MI

Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish. Pricing: The registration fee covers the entire five (5) weeks of the Series which includes race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online Early Bird registration increases three weeks prior to the first race event.  Challenger: This Series offers a Challenger Division which is an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs. About This Event: The Kalamazoo Klassic is a community walk/run event to promote and benefit local nonprofit MRC Industries. At least 85% of the net proceeds of the Kalamazoo Klassic benefit MRC Industries, Inc. in its mission to encourage and support individuals living with a disability to achieve their fullest potential through employment, workforce development, and active community involvement. The remaining proceeds benefit Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) in its mission to promote a healthy lifestyle through the sport of running while enhancing the quality of life in the community.  The 2026 Kalamazoo Klassic 10k Run and 5k Walk/Run, presented in partnership by MRC Industries, Inc. and the Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR), is scheduled for Saturday, June 20th. KAR 1-Mile Challenge

Event Date: July 18, 2026 (Saturday) Event LocationWMU Business Tech Innovation Park About This Event: The start will be separated into age-group, high school, and invitational heats.  The heats will start 10 minutes apart.  The high school heats will be separated into two boys heats of over 5:00 PRs and under 5:00 PRs, and the girls heats of over 6:00 PRs and under 6:00 PRs.  The invitational heats will be women under 5:30 and men under 4:30.   Awards will go three deep in each age group and category, with special trophies given to the high school and invitational winners. Walk with us to prevent suicide.  Join us for the 12th annual Gryphon Place Suicide Prevention Walk on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The 5K cause-walk will raise awareness for suicide prevention, allow people to connect with each other, and provide critical funds for Gryphon Place. 100% of the community-raised dollars stay here in the community, supporting the local programs and services we offer. Baby Steps 5k Run/Walk Kalamazoo

This race is in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day (which is October 15, though we're running/walking in September when the weather is hopefully nicer for being outdoors!). Miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss are sad realities for many families in the United States and around the world.
