COURSE INFORMATION: Experience trail running at its finest in the heart of the Withlacoochee State Forest. The Withlacoochee Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K take place on the hiking and equestrian trails within the Two Mile Prairie Tract, just outside Lecanto, FL. Runners will travel through scenic sandhills, oak forests, and wet prairies, with frequent opportunities to spot local wildlife along the course. This is a true Florida trail running experience—beautiful, rugged, and memorable.  Race Distances & Course Details: Marathon: 2 × 13.1-mile loopsHalf Marathon: 1 × 13.1-mile loop10K: Modified loop courseAll races are run on natural trail surfaces. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, running enthusiasts from across the Mid-South and beyond are invited to “Mississippi’s Front Porch” to participate in Hernando’s 17th Annual Water Tower 10K & Half Marathon road race. This beloved event highlights the charm of Hernando’s historic districts and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, the Hernando Water Tower. Following the successful addition of the Half Marathon distance in 2025, runners will enjoy an extended course that not only tours Hernando’s historic neighborhoods but also showcases the scenic areas surrounding the city. The Half Marathon will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 10K race starting five minutes later. Both races will begin in the heart of the city at Hernando’s historic Town Square, featuring routes that wind through picturesque, tree lined streets in the shadow of the iconic Hernando Water Tower. What is a Tunnel To Towers Run & Walk?The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty!
