Earth Day 5K

Please join the Durango Running Club for the inaugural Earth Day 5K! The race will be on 04/18/26 at 8:30 AM at Rotary Park in Durango. Runners and walkers will go north on the Animas River Trail from Rotary Park, and will run or walk 1.55 miles north to just before 32nd Street. Participants will then turn around and finish at Rotary park. Please note this will be a Zero Waste event. Participants are encouraged to carry their own water.  This event is a fun run/walk format, and there will be no chip timing or prizes. All proceeds from the race will go to benefit Compañeros. As the only organization in our region with its primary focus on serving immigrants, Compañeros offers unique and crucial services to our community. Services offered by Compañeros include resource navigation, legal services, education outreach, and community engagement. The Narrow Gauge Races

Be a part of history -- this is the longest continuously run road race in Colorado!  Since 1978, the Narrow Gauge 10 Mile Run has been one of Durango's oldest Memorial Day traditions. This year, we're back at beautiful Santa Rita Park along the Animas River. We are excited to announce our beneficiaries of the races this year are The Fort Lewis College and Durango High School Track and Cross Country Teams as well as The Liberty School and Animas High School. The 10 Miler will climb from the river trail up to Fort Lewis College with the best views of the La Plata Mountains then past Hillcrest Golf course. It will be a mix of sidewalk, dirt and paved road as well as singletrack trails  The descent will take runners back to the east side of the Animas River to the Rivergate Bridge then north along the river trail back to the start/finish.  For a change of pace the 5K race heads south  from Santa Rita Park crosses over the Animas River and continues south along the eastern banks of

Steamworks Half Marathon

The Steamworks Half Marathon will take place in the San Juan Mountains on Saturday June 6, 2026 . This high-elevation, 13.1 mile race will take place at 6,500 feet above sea level. The course is a point-to-point route and has been certified by USATF!. Runners will run down county road 250, alongside the beautiful Animas River. The race will finish at the Durango Fitness Club on Florida Road. After the race, enjoy an awesome party by the pool at Durango Fitness Club with food and drinks from Steamworks Brewing and Homeslice Pizza. The race is capped at 250 runners and it will sell out, so be sure to register as soon as possible. The race will begin at 7:30 am(new start time this year 2025)!!!, with an additional start time at 7:00 am for those who need longer to complete the course. Runners have the option to be bussed to the start line from the Durango Fitness Club on the morning of the race. OR, be dropped off by a friend or family member. Celebrate freedom with one MILE race down Durango's historic Main Avenue. The Thirsty 13 Half Marathon is one of the best races in Colorado! The race course:  Fast and mostly downhill, with gorgeous scenery.  Perfect for runners new to the half marathon distance or looking to set a PR.
