Join us for Pointer Rescue Organization's Second Annual Virtual “On Point” 5K Race! Lace up your sneakers and make a difference for Pointers in need! We’re excited to invite you to participate in our Virtual 5K Race, happening May 15–22, 2027! Whether you run or walk, you can complete your 3.1 miles anytime, anywhere during race week: on your favorite trail, around your neighborhood, or even on the treadmill. Bring your four-legged running buddy along for the fun! Every step you take helps support our rescue dogs, with all proceeds going directly toward veterinary care for the English Pointers in our rescue program. The 5K registration fee is $55, which includes a PRO 5K T-shirt, medal, and race bib. You can complete your 3.1 miles at your own pace throughout the entire week and log your miles as you go! Track your progress using apps like WoofTrax (choose Pointer Rescue Organization as your charitable organization!), MapMyRun, or any other fitness app you love. Our running event courses traverse the world-famous Copper River delta, a land of mountains, glaciers, and blue water rivers and lakes. For each distance event (except the One Mile), runners meet at race HQ and are driven on shuttle buses to the start line for their race.  The race courses are mostly flat (we're at sea level), and follow the old Copper River and Northwestern Railroad route which led to the Kennicott copper mines. We also offer a post-run Salmon BBQ lunch, get your tickets here! Lunch includes salmon, side dishes, dessert and door prizes. We'll announce race winners and distribute medals for the top three women and men finishers for each event here (at the Pioneer Igloo on First Street). This lunch is open to everyone, bring a dish to share (for 6 - 8 people) and get in free!
