Team Running Lab is celebrating 10 years of bringing runners and walkers together, and this spring season is the perfect time to join us. Our FREE 16 week half or full marathon training program kicks off January 5, 2026, with our goal race set for the Glass City Half and Full Marathon on April 26, 2026. Whether you are brand new or looking to crush a new PR, our plans will help you stay consistent, confident, and ready for race day. For a decade we have built an inclusive group where all paces, ages, and experience levels are welcome. You will get free training plans, supportive pace leaders, a private Facebook group for communication and celebration, educational events, and a community of people who show up for each other. Triathletes throughout Michigan have long considered the Island Lake State Recreation Area, home of the Island Lake Triathlon, an epic training destination, ideal for any athlete preparing for a multisport event.  Set within a 4,000-acre park in Livingston County that offers an “up north” experience without leaving southeast Michigan. The terrain is a mixture of open brush land to mature hardwood forest, with some pockets of open meadows mixed in with a paved road of rolling hills weaving throughout.  You’ll swim the clear waters of Kent Lake, bike the park’s rolling, tree-lined hills, then run the panoramic final leg towards the lakeside finish line! Join us for the 4th Annual H.E.R.O Freedom Run featuring a 1-mile fun run and 5k run/walk on the beautiful cross-country course now being held onsite at Freedom River in Hamburg Township (Down the road from the Hamburg Family Fun Fest). We will kick off with a 1-mile fun run at 6:30 pm and our 5K run/walk at 7pm on a cross-country style course. The funds raised for this event will go toward building a HERO picnic refuge nestled among the trees near Gill Lake at Freedom River.  Freedom River is an outdoor recreation facility for veterans and their families to relax, recover, and rejuvenate. Gleaners Community Food Bank is excited to announce the 2nd annual Hunger Free Summer 5K Run and Walk! With the support of our incredible community, Gleaners continues to work toward our mission of creating a food-secure Southeast Michigan.     When school is out, many children lose access to the meals they rely on, but the Hunger Free Summer campaign helps bridge that gap. Gleaners can provide 3 meals for every dollar donated. July 4th, 2026 The 20th Annual Hungry Duck race benefit our local non-profit partners in the fight against hunger. Together we can run or walk for an incredible cause to help our community.  The course starts in downtown Brighton, continuing into local scenic areas and returning downtown to finish. Course is mostly paved with portions on hard-packed dirt roads; mostly flat with a few "modest" hills to add a little challenge. The half marathon course will be closed at 9:45am. There are water stations, mile markers, and course monitors along the way! Livingston County Veteran Services and Howell Recreation present the fourth annual 9/11 “Never Forget 5K Trail Run/Walk.”  Join us at Fillmore County Park on September 12th at 9 am as we remember those who lost their lives that day, as well as our military veterans and first responders who went into harm’s way as a result of the attack. This trail is not stroller-friendly and is not paved. All runners who register on or before August 14th will receive a t-shirt.
