WHAT IS GIRLS ON THE RUN? Girls on the Run (GOTR) offers programming designed for all girls to build confidence, increase their level of physical activity, and learn essential life skills. Our research-based curriculum creatively combines movement with confidence-building lessons and activities, providing an after-school program for 3rd through 8th grade girls. With programming that inspires girls of all backgrounds and abilities to recognize their individual strengths, participants build connection and community in a welcoming team setting. They explore topics including emotions, expressing empathy, and standing up for themself and others all while being in a safe and judge-free space with their peers. Their season culminates with a 5K celebration, where girls experience confidence and unstoppable strength as they cross the finish line. The Fredericksburg Area Running Club has been given 15 bibs for the Marine Corps Marathon to sell to its members. After purchasing the entry from us, you will receive an access code and URL to complete your registration at no charge. That information will be provided in July, and you must complete the registration by July 31. This site does not include official information about the race. You should access https://www.marinemarathon.com/event/marine-corps-marathon/ for official race information. Once we sell all of our bibs, it does not mean the race is sold out. Our Spring 10-Miler and Half Marathon Training Program targets the the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler and the Alexandria Half Marathon. Other half marathons, such as the Shamrock Half and the Rock-n-Roll Half, can be accommodated. Just let your coaches know that you are planning to run one of these races, and they can discuss tweaks to the training program. We encourage all paces to train with us! We have organized pace groups for times from approximately a 7:30 mile to a 12:30 run-walk pace.  The training program begins Saturday, January 17, 2026 and officially ends April 25, 2026. Run for the hill of it! Come kick off St. Patrick's Day and celebrate our Courthouse community. It may only be four miles, but the Four Courts Four Miler will test your mettle. The race starts at Ireland's Four Courts in Arlington, VA. Runners will run down the Wilson Boulevard hill, turn around, and run back up the hill to finish at Four Courts where you'll start your St. Patrick's Day celebration in style and be rewarded with a tasty beverage. As the Irish saying goes, "May the road rise up to meet you." This course takes that quite literally. Registration includes a race t-shirt and a free post-race beverage provided by Four Courts. Register by March 1, 2027 to guarantee your t-shirt. After March 1, t-shirts will be provided based on availability. Race starts at 9:00 a.m. sharp on March 13. The start line closes at 9:10 a.m. Runners will have until 10:15 a.m. to complete the course. Beer tickets must be used by 12:00 p.m. the day of the race.

About the Run and AEF The AEF 5K Run celebrates Arlington’s students, teachers, and staff who work tirelessly to create enriching and innovative educational experiences. All ages are welcome to participate.  The proceeds from the run will be used to support innovative and creative new projects, as well as system-wide initiatives, that enhance the educational experience in Arlington’s Public Schools.  AEF depends entirely on individual donations and business sponsorships.  The race plays a significant role in our community awareness and fundraising initiatives.
