The "West Hill's 5K of Wonder", presented by the West Hill Neighborhood Organization, takes place on Saturday, October 24th, 2026. - The West Hill Neighborhood Association is a volunteer led community organization providing free programming to residents in Akron's West Hill neighborhood. - Race registration includes a participant shirt. The Apex Skin Towpath Freedom 5k serves to honor our United States veterans for their service, as well as to commemorate the completion of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail within Summit County. This event raises funds for the continued development and enhancement of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, Connector Trails, and National Heritage Area. US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. EMS is not stationed on site, and water stations are limited to the finish area at the end of each lap and at the race finish. Our mission is to provide interim housing, food, training, and support services for those families who are earnestly seeking to improve their lives and living conditions. Our commitment is to do this without government funding or paid staff, but by uniting our community in the true spirit of service. Gennesaret does not promote any religious organization or practices; however, it was founded on Christian principles. Encompassing our mission is our unbending goal to treat those whom we serve with respect to enable them to retain their dignity in difficult and stressful times. All proceeds go directly to serving those in dire financial straits through our Family Nutritional Center and our family housing apartments. On behalf of those who are challenged in these tough times, we thank you for your support of our endeavors.

Enjoy a morning of fun for the entire family while supporting local hunger relief. Race Details Team registration and a new team award for the fastest 4-person or larger team!The race will have two separate categories during registration - running and competitive walking. Run/Walk If you plan to run/jog during any portion of the race, please register as a run/walk.Competitive Walkers If you plan to walk 100% of the course in its entirety (no running/jogging), please register as a competitive walker. This scenic 5K winds through natural, wooded trails that weave in and out of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, delivering fresh air, forest views and a satisfying challenge. Runners will tackle rolling hills with a total elevation gain of 112 feet, making this course as rewarding as it is beautiful. All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re chasing a personal best or enjoying the run at your own pace. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions and in the boys and girls division (under 16) will receive medals.
