The Herrinfesta Road Races has a long history of families and friends coming together on Memorial Day to have fun, to suffer in the heat for a few miles. If you have never ran it before then you should come join us for a really fun time. With one of the fastest courses around, runners can come to Herrin and shoot for a new PR. This is a family friendly event with a few race options. The 10k run, the 5K walk, the Park Avenue Mile, and the kids mile. Ambitious runners can even sign up for both the 10k and the mile.

Nestled in the Shawnee National Forest, Giant City State Park is a premier destination for hiking, lodging, and camping in southern Illinois. We are now proud to offer a premier trail (heavy) ½ marathon and 40k primarily utilizing the Red Cedar Trail.  The course will consist mostly of single track, but will have some gravel road connectors, horse trails, fields, and less than a mile of paved road connectors. The Little Village Rotary Club presents the 6th Annual Carrera por paz, or Race for Peace, a community 5K Run/Walk Event. This event's objective is to promote anti-violence by supporting youth programs in Chicago’s Little Village and surrounding communities. Proceeds of this race will be invested into the community in the form of renewable grants, youth development, and job training. In the 1980's the Park Forest Running and Pancake Club held their annual progressive marathon by adding up four separate "races" with the Park Forest Scenic 10 to have a Marathon time. In keeping with that tradition, we will be hosting a series of "races" at the Vollmer Trails, then adding those times to your finish time at the Flossmoor Hidden Gem Half Marathon. Come to the Flossmoor Entrance of the Vollmer Trail and run a 3.275 mile race four times.   Dates will be published soon. After the Hidden Gem, we will tabulate the results and award the top three finishers.  If there are enough participants, we will award age group awards.

Four beers. One mile.  The Chicago Beer Mile will take place on Friday June 5th. Drink, Run, Drink, Repeat! This is a one-mile fun run for runners who enjoy beers. Drink a beer, run/walk/jog (or skip, crawl, whatever you want) your way a quarter mile around the track, and repeat three more times. There will be opportunities for those who do not wish to consume beer.  We will have a Chocolate Milk Mile followed by a Non Alcoholic Beer Mile. Volunteers are also needed. Races will begin at 6:00 pm.  A final schedule of events will be posted on June 5th.  Each race will have 4-14 entries. The event will conclude with two sections of elite Beer Milers. The event will be capped at 200 entries. There will be prize money for the top three men and women. $500 for 1st place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place. Lake Run Club is hosting a National doughnut day run on Friday June 6th, with various start times and distances. Early Bird Doughnut 4 mile:  6:30 AM.  4 Mile run starting from Connie Link Amphitheatre to Grove Street Bakery.  Run to Grove Street for a doughnut and back for a cup of coffee after you finish your run.   Gotta get to work 2 mile: 6:45 AM 2 mile run from Keg Grove Parking to Grove Street Bakery and back. Grab a doughnut at Keg Grove and head back for a quick out and back run.  Stale Doughnut: 5:30 PM start from Keg Grove.  5K or 10K run, self timed on the trail.  Yes, we'll have a doughnut or two waiting for you when you finish.  Along with a beverage on tap at Keg Grove.

Children ages 1-12 are invited to run on Friday evenings during the summer at NCHS (Normal Community High School). This family program by the Lake Run Club, is non-competitive and intended to help teach kids that exercising and running can be fun. Children will be grouped according to age with the younger ones (2 and under) running first (parents may run with young kids). Age groups with many children will run in several "heats" to avoid congestion and accidents. This is our 30th year of the Kids Run for Fun! CASA is hosting its 5th annual Color Run event on June 6, 2026! Bring your family and friends to this fun, family-friendly event at Sycamore Middle School (no pets, please). The Rockford Fire Department welcomes you to participate in the 22nd Annual Rockford Fire Department 911 - 3K Run/Walk.  Join the fun and challenge yourself, family, or friends at this incredible event. This event was formed to bring fire prevention and emergency medical education to our community.  The numbers 9-1-1 are an iconic symbol of emergency services across the nation.  It also holds special significance following the events of September 11, 2001.  We honor the memory of that day with the race's start time 9:11am.   The Rockford Fire Department utilizes many training aids to provide fire and medical education to our community. Come join us on Saturday, June 6th for the 2nd Annual "Princeton Mile" road race! Certified Course!  IL26001NM The race will take place on Princeton’s historic Main Street, starting at the Apollo Theater and ending at Rotary Park, just in time to enjoy live music, food, and drinks at Rotary Club of Princeton's 5th Annual Shrimpfest. The course is a straight line, fully paved city street. If you are looking to set a personal best time for a mile, this would be the place to do it. The course has been certified, and the race will be chip timed. The first race will feature “elite” runners who will be competing for a $1000 prize which will be awarded to the first male and female finisher. Both male and female second place finishers will receive $750 and third place $500. In order to participate in the elite race, male runners must be able to run a mile under 4:30 minutes, and female runners must be able to run a mile under 5:30 minutes. Race the Countryside 10k!   In person Countryside 10k: Registration: online registration only and closes Saturday June 6th 7:15 a.m. Course: start/finish at Witt Park, Sidney. Once runners leave the park they will be on country roads. There will be volunteers at most intersections and arrows on pavement. Each runner is encouraged to run on the left side of the road and must be aware of cars. There may be loose gravel or potholes. Please use caution. The Decatur Running Club is sponsoring a timed 5k beginning at 8 a.m. on June 6th and a Kid's Ramble at 7:30 a.m. ages 10 and under.   The start/finish will take place at the east parking lot on the trail.  The paved course is an out and back.  Water station will be available along the course.   Proceeds are used to fund club events as well as supporting youth running programs in the Decatur area.   This race will be hand timed (NO BIB) by the Decatur Running Club. All participants receive a finisher medal and hand painted rock.  Age group awards for the 5K are 10 and under, then 5 year increments up to 75 and over.   Race T-shirts are available for additional purchase.  50/50 fabric. Will you be walking, running, biking, swimming, roller-skating, dancing or doing something else?  The DRS Dash for Dysphagia is a fun way for friends and colleagues around the world to join together in support of research, education, and professional development in the field of dysphagia. This VIRTUAL event will help raise funds to support the DRS Research Career Development (RCD) Program and contribute to future scholarships and grant opportunities for our members. Stop, drop, and RUN! Welcome to the 3nd annual Champaign Firefighters Local 1260 5K race! Grab your friends and family to run or walk the local Carle at the Fields trail! This is a chip timed 3.1mi route that winds through the distinctive Southwest Champaign area including many local businesses, parks, and of course, fire station.  This local race seeks to support the Champaign Firefighters Benevolent Fund, which was created in 2022 as a new charitable organization. The mission of the Champaign Firefighters Benevolent Fund is to honor the sacrifice of the family members of our fallen brothers and sisters; to support active and retired Local 1260 members and their families; to support other firefighters and their families in Illinois and beyond; and, to provide financial support to community members and/or groups locally.  This is a flat, paved path. Welcome to the Central Illinois Summer Trail Series! The 1st race in this series will take place at Kinsey Park in Peoria, IL. It is following the 4.16 mile trail loop that is used in the "Yellowbrick Backyard Ultra" that is hosted on the course the very next day by Sophie Russell (If you've never heard of a backyard--- you should check it out!)! This is a great way to get exposure to trails, and also learn a little bit about the local ultramarathon community.  The course offers hills, plenty of runnable sections, and some Wizard of Oz themed stretches to bring some joy to the grind!  Elevation gain for this loop is approximately 240’.
