The BIG SKY BIGGIE is an annual mountain bike race in the heart of Big Sky, Montana.    Taking place on Saturday, August 22, 2026 choose from three distances - 50 miles, 30 miles, 15 miles.   Starting in Big Sky’s Town Center (Meadow Village) and climbing up to Lone Peak and Buck Ridge, riders will connect on some of the area’s most exhilarating (and challenging) pieces of single-track, double-track, gravel roads and the occasional paved segment.  This is a true community event, celebrating the joy of riding mountain bikes - at ANY skill level.  Proceeds benefit the Big Sky Community Organization and SWMMBA-Big Sky Chapter.

Race Montana Triathlon and Duathlon 2026

Great Falls, MT
The 18th Annual Race Montana Triathlon and Duathlon is scheduled for Saturday, Aufust 22nd, 2026, at the Electric City Water Park in Great Falls, Montana.The Race Montana Triathlon Sprint Distance event will start at 7:00 am.  The event features a 500-meter snake swim in the Electric City Water Park 50-meter pool.  The Bike portion will be 12.2 miles, with the first 5 miles and last 6 miles being relatively flat.  Mile 6 is a steady climb to the turnaround.  The run will be a fast and flat 3.1 miles.  If you do not want to compete in all three events, get some friends together and compete as a team.  Team racers will start the event with individual racers based on the anticipated 500-meter swim time. If you do not want to swim, then DO a Duathlon!!!  The Duathlon will feature a 1.0 - mile run that starts from the Bike Transition in the Electric City Water Park Parking Lot.  The run is completely flat.  Runners will return to the Electric City Water Park Parking Lot to transition to the

18th Annual Canine Classic at Paws Up

The Canine Classic is a trail hike/run for you and your dog(s) through the scenic trails at Paws Up! Participants can choose from Half-Marathon, 5-Mile, 2-Mile races or an untimed hike. Dogs are welcome and encouraged to participate, and can do so off-leash on these trap-free lands. The run takes you on mostly designated trails and some dirt roads. Runners can expect uneven trails especially through pasture area. After the race enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch prepared by the amazing team at Paws Up. All race entries include one lunch coupon, a swag bag, and the opportunity to win some great prizes! Additional lunch coupons can be purchased the day of the race for $15. The event is cupless. Speedy race from the Little Belt mountains in Lewis & Clark National Forest to Historic Harlowton MT. Start this race with epic views of the Crazy Mountains and finish with a complimentary hand-crafted pint from local Gally's Brewing Company. Race is entirely on leg-saving compacted gravel with 1800 feet of net decline. Gravel is super shoe friendly with calcium chloride treated hard pack for the majority of the run.  This race is a fundraiser for AIDSPIRIT USA, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing orphaned, abandoned, or abused children in the Kayunga District of Uganda with a safe home, food, clothing, medicine, and most importantly, an education since 2009. Race day is September 19, 2026, and will start at 9:00 am sharp when the ole 50 caliber Hawkins black powder rifle goes off.  The Race begins and ends at the Missouri Headwaters State Park – one mile south of Trident and about 6 miles northeast of Three Forks, MT. Take Exit 278 off I-90. Follow signs to Headwaters State Park and Trident. Parking is limited. Please carpool.   The Course:  The course is approximately 7 miles long, with the first mile and a half on a paved/gravel country road, and the remaining 5.5 miles on mostly rugged trails, just like it was when Lewis and Clark came through here.  The trail portion is relatively rough but suited for cross-country running.  There are two railroad crossings.  BNSF will stop ALL trains at the first crossing just after the start where we will have a crossing guard. September is Suicide Awareness Month & Addiction Recovery Month. Jimmy was an avid prayer runner who ran for his recovery and it also helped him with his own silent struggle with his mental health. General Description: This race, renowned for its unique beauty, spans just over 18 miles, climbs 2,609 ft, and descends 2,366 ft. It starts at the 2024 MICHELIN Guide awarded Sage Lodge trails, with a 10-mile climb that steadily increases in steepness, followed by an exhilarating 8-mile downhill that gradually eases in gradient. The entire course is off-road, with no pavement in sight. Instead, participants traverse a mix of trails, gravel roads, USFS dirt roads, and scree-covered jeep paths. The upper elevations in Emigrant Gulch are an out and back, and the rest of the race is point to point. Back Roads Half & 10k

The main roads may be efficient but the back roads sure are beautiful. Take in the views of the Beartooth's as you cruise on rolling rural roads.  This fall Half and 10k is a great way to wrap up your summer running season. We know it's cross country season so this race on is on Sunday so you can watch your kids run on Saturday and then show them what you've got on Sunday! This is a race for everyone. Walkers welcome in the 10k. Sorry no dogs at this race as we go by lots of livestock and livestock guardian dogs. Both courses are on gravel with a few paved sections and minimal elevation gain....well there are 1 or 2 big hills, but after that, smooth sailing! Strollers are welcome, but require some serious grit. There is a short steep hill on the 10k course in the first mile and a longer, less steep hill in the first mile of the half. Both races finish with a steep of trail downhill -strollers have 100% gone down this, but do so at their own risk. We do mark a turn on the 10

It’s a beautiful 28 mile run through the Wolf Creek Canyon. These 28 miles are divided into 4 legs, with each leg being chip timed by Competitive Timing.   The teams can consist of 8, 4, 2, or solo runners.**** Again we are adding an 8 person team.  This would let more people participate with dividing each leg into 2 runners.  Many can run 3.5 miles, but not 7 miles.  We're hoping to encourage more to participate running in our beautiful canyon!  The division would be entirely up to the participating team members and these splits will not be recorded by chip timing, only at each leg exchange, as normal.  Each participant is still required to pay the individual entry fee in order to receive the awesome swag and chip timing at each leg exchange. **** Each team is responsible for their own team members throughout the race distance. Le Grizz Ultramarathon & Relay

Le Grizz is a 50-mile Ultramarathon run just to the west of Montana's Glacier National Park on a gravel road that parallels the North Fork of the Flathead River. Runners will find themselves gaining views of the magnificent Crown of the Continent, made up of Northern Rockies of Southern British Columbia and Glacier Park, and surrounded by the changing colors of the aspen and larch.  The 2026 course is an out-and-back route which will begin and end at the Glacier Institute's Big Creek Outdoor Education Center, following the North Fork Road just beyond Red Meadow Creek, with a brief detour into our Polebridge Mercantile aid station.  The course contains approximately 2,300 feet of elevation gain across the 50 miles – metrics that are true to the traditional elevation profile of Le Grizz from the legacy Spotted Bear course. The road is undulating gravel with occasional gentle inclines – excellent for folks seeking their first ultramarathon finish.

Dear Friends of Race Montana and Burn the Bird, It's that time of year again for the Race Montana Burn the Bird 10K, 5K, and 1.33-mile walk.  We hope you have had a fabulous year.  Let's finish 2026 strong with a great run on Thanksgiving morning! Crossroads Fitness Turkey Trot

Now in its 5th decade, the annual Helena Turkey Trot is a fun run / fundraiser to celebrate the holiday and support local charities. Join us Thanksgiving morning at Crossroads Sports & Fitness (1013 Dearborn Ave, 406-442-6733) to help support groups like Helena Food Share (2017 & before), Shodair Children's Hospital (2018-19), Girls Thrive (2022), Impact Montana (2023), and Helena Vigilante Runners / Helena Novas Youth XC/TF (2024-26)! The 2026 race will take place Thursday, November 26 at 10:00 am. Runners have a choice of 1k (one small clockwise loop), 5k (one big clockwise loop), or 10k (two big clockwise loops). The courses are all very flat and fast, although some years traction is advisable. Note that this is an un-timed fun run event. After the race bagels and fruit will be served. Random drawing for turkeys and pies! DRAWING AT 11:00am. Must be present to win.

Sorry 'Bout That Half Marathon and Team Relay

Welcome Back Runners!! This is the 14th Running!!! The Sorry 'Bout That 1/2 Marathon and Team Relay is back for 2027.  Hopefully it will be above freezing this year on race day, but not by much.  The course will be clockwise this year, meaning a uphill start start and uphilll finish, with the large downhill in the middle miles. Two aide stations and one portajohn will be on the course. Clockwise means it goes the direction of an old clock with hands. All turns on the course are to the right except for one.  Free Finisher Medals with entry and finish. If you enter the race and don't run you will not get a medal This year T shirts are extra cost. I have been informed by the accountants that the race can not afford to keep losing money every year. Seeley Lake Biathlon

The Seeley Lake Biathlon, February 6, 2027, is a "citizens biathlon" race.  No prior biathlon experience is required.  Racers must provide their own ski equipment. Seeley Lake Biathlon will supply rifles, targets and ammo.  Racers will experience the thrills and challenges of biathlon. Firearm safety and safe range procedures take priority over race times. All participants must attend a Gun Safety Briefing prior to range practice or race participation.  Safety briefing times for each race listed below.  Racers can register for 3K, 7.5K, or 13.5K (new race distances for the mid-length and long race).
