This early season event is the perfect opportunity for youth and adult athletes to start the multisport season with a fun, low-cost swim / run event.   DistancesJunior (age 6 -10)  100 meter swim; 1 kilometer runSenior (age 11 – 17) 200 meter swim; 2 kilometer run (1.24 miles)Adult (18 and over)  300 meter swim; 2 mile run Age DeterminationAge is determined by the age of your athlete on race day.  If you are 15 years old on race day, you will race in the 15 year old age group. The PTA will be holding a fundraising campaign that will conclude on April 18th with the NEW Wolfie Dash Obstacle Course.  All funds raised will help pay for the PTA events that make Central Road great!  These events include: assemblies, Fall Fest, Multicultural events, classroom holiday parties, teacher appreciation week, Veterans Day breakfast, and much, much more.  At the end of our fundraising period, students will participate in the Wolfie Dash where they will be running, jumping, crawling, and climbing. The Wolfie Dash will bring in over 75% of PTA funding for the next school year, as well as some much needed items for this year. The HOH 5k is the sole fundraiser for the HOH scholarship program. This race is organized by the Northbrook District 28 PTO Council with volunteers from Greenbriar, Meadowbrook, Northbrook Junior High and Westmoor. All proceeds benefit the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship Fund. 5K runners and walkers will start at 8:00 a.m with a group start. We welcome strollers, but NO dogs, bikes or rollerblades please. The lot behind the junior high will be closed from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. for the race. The race is chip timed for instant results of the race. Runners can see their results after they finish. Whether you are a seasoned climber or a weekend warrior, this event offers a distance for everyone through the rolling hills and scenic vistas of Southern Illinois. 2026 Race Theme will be "International Harry Potter Day" which is observed May 2nd.  International Harry Potter Day was officially declared by David Cameron, the Prime Minister of Britain at the time, in 2012. It is designated to be on the 2nd of May, the day Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort during the Battle of Hogwarts, and the day that the Battle of Hogwarts and the Second Wizarding War ended.Two new categories, fastest witch, wizard or muggle. Back for a 12th year, the 2026 Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon, 5K and now 10K  have become the "must do" events of the running community in central Illinois. The Marathon course will again encompass the scenery of the Illinois River, the neighborhoods of Ottawa, and the rolling landscapes in and around Starved Rock State Park. Runners will be inspired by the scenery of rolling country hills and natural rock formations tucked into heavily wooded areas created by the Illinois River thousands of years ago.
