Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon

Join us on Saturday, April 11, 2026 as runners from many states and countries take in Abraham Lincoln sites during this scenic half marathon. This USATF certified course will immerse you in Lincoln history unlike any other race!   ​The race starts at the Old State Capitol where Lincoln gave his famous House Divided speech.  Just across the plaza from the Capitol, within the first quarter mile of the race, is the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices.  This is the only building still standing where Lincoln practiced law during in his 25-year career.  Not even a mile into the race, runners go back in time for two blocks, passing by the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned.  During mile nine, runners enter Oak Ridge cemetery and are able to view Lincoln's final resting place.  Mile 10 takes runners through the local city park named after the 16th president.  During the final mile of the race, runners will pass by historic Union Train station directly adjacent to the Abraham Lincoln Museum and L

*This is a River to River Runners Club Championship Series event!*   The 10k run is set for 7:30am on Saturday, April 11 at the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge. Run 2 Ramble 5K Program

The Decatur Running Club is offering a Beginning Running Program starting Tuesday April 14th.  This is a FREE organized 8-week program targeting new (or returning after a long break) runners. DRC mentors can teach new runners how to build safely and slowly, and can outline a goal, such as finishing a 5K. The program will meet on Tuesday evenings at Fairview Park, Thursday evenings at Nelson Park, and Saturday mornings at Rock Springs Conservation Area.  You do not have to attend every run, but we encourage you to try to do two a week.  A Facebook group page will be the primary means of communication throughout the program, with reminders of location, what to expect, and what to bring, for example, water bottle, cooling towel, etc. Graduation race will be the Rock Springs Ramble on June 6th at the Rock Springs Conservation Area located at 3939 Nearing Ln Decatur. Springfest 5K Run/2 Mile Walk

The race will be run partly on a city street and mostly on an asphalt trail. It will start and finish on N 5th Street just north of the YMCA, at the intersection with N 6th Avenue. We will be using the north parking lot of the YMCA. There is also plenty of parking across Kennedy Drive at Meadowview Center. Restrooms will be available at the YMCA. Participants need to wear their bib numbers on the front and have them visible when entering the start area and when coming to the finish line. If you sign up for the walk, you must walk the entire distance. No running, no sprinting to the finish line. Bottled water and pre-wrapped snacks such as granola bars and bananas will be available at the finish. All participants will receive a finisher’s award.
