*This is a River to River Runners Club Championship Series event!*   The 10k run is set for 7:30am on Saturday, April 11 at the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge. Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish. The Decatur Running Club is offering a Beginning Running Program starting Tuesday April 14th.  This is a FREE organized 8-week program targeting new (or returning after a long break) runners. DRC mentors can teach new runners how to build safely and slowly, and can outline a goal, such as finishing a 5K. The program will meet on Tuesday evenings at Fairview Park, Thursday evenings at Nelson Park, and Saturday mornings at Rock Springs Conservation Area.  You do not have to attend every run, but we encourage you to try to do two a week.  A Facebook group page will be the primary means of communication throughout the program, with reminders of location, what to expect, and what to bring, for example, water bottle, cooling towel, etc. Graduation race will be the Rock Springs Ramble on June 6th at the Rock Springs Conservation Area located at 3939 Nearing Ln Decatur. CDH Awareness Race – April 18 | Pittsfield Lake Join us Saturday, April 18th 10:00am at the Lake Pittsfield for a meaningful day of movement, community, and hope at the Steps for Stronger Lungs Awareness Race. This event is dedicated to raising awareness for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) and supporting families impacted by this rare and life-threatening condition. All proceeds will benefit the Tiny Hero Foundation, a CDH charity committed to helping families find quality medical care, a strong support system, and a hope-filled future. CDH affects approximately 1,150 babies worldwide each year, and every step taken in this race helps bring awareness, resources, and encouragement to those facing this diagnosis. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation makes a difference. You are appreciated & we are so glad you are joining us!

The race will be run partly on a city street and mostly on an asphalt trail. It will start and finish on N 5th Street just north of the YMCA, at the intersection with N 6th Avenue. We will be using the north parking lot of the YMCA. There is also plenty of parking across Kennedy Drive at Meadowview Center. Restrooms will be available at the YMCA. Participants need to wear their bib numbers on the front and have them visible when entering the start area and when coming to the finish line. If you sign up for the walk, you must walk the entire distance. No running, no sprinting to the finish line. Bottled water and pre-wrapped snacks such as granola bars and bananas will be available at the finish. All participants will receive a finisher’s award. There will also be Overall and Age Group awards. Also available, for an extra $10 is a T-shirt with the race logo and info imprinted on it. EWB’s 4th Annual 5K Stride for Sustainability invites community members to run in support of health and environmental awareness while raising funds for impactful projects in Malawi, Rwanda, and Woodford. Engineers Without Borders UIUC is a student-led nonprofit that builds a better world by empowering communities to meet their basic human needs while equipping students to solve the world's most pressing challenges. We realize this mission through projects such as bridges, water and wastewater systems, and electrical systems. Our chapter is currently working on projects in the United States, Rwanda, and Malawi. We work to ensure that our projects are sustainable in terms of environmental impact and that they are able to serve the needs of their communities for years to come.
