Thanksgiving Day 2026 will be the 48th Annual City of Bloomington Turkey Trot partnered with Fleet Feet Bloomington. Join us at historic Miller Park on Thursday, November 26. You can pick up your bib and shirt at Fleet Feet Bloomington between the hours of 10am - 5pm on Tuesday, November 24 and Wednesday, November 25. You can also pick it up before the run on Thursday at Miller Park from 8am - 9am. **There are a limited quantity of long sleeve t-shirts and they will be sold first come, first served through registration. This has become a very popular local event and tradition as we expect close to 2,000 runners and walkers. For the safety of all participants, dogs and strollers are strongly discouraged. Pre-register for your chance to win a variety of prizes (only people who pre-register will be eligible for prizes). Prizes will include Fleet Feet gift certificates and more. Tiny Trotters will head west along the NorthPointe campus drive, travel around NorthPointe Terrace, and safely cross the intersection before continuing onto the trail. The route then winds uphill alongside our first waterfall. Once at the top of the hill, Tiny Trotters will make their way to the finish line beneath the NorthPointe Birth Center’s porte cochère. The Edison Park Turkey Trot is one of the longest running and most popular runs in the Chicago area. It began in 1995 when Mary O'Connor and Nancy Horn attended a suburban Thanksgiving race. The following day, Mary thought that Edison Park needed a Turkey Trot race of its own to celebrate the holiday as a community. Mary then approached local community members and asked them to start a 5K race on Thanksgiving morning. From there, a committee was formed and the planning began. As they planned for their race in 1996, they were told they would be lucky if they had 250 participants. However, they proved them wrong and had over 500 runners at the first Edison Park Turkey Trot. Over the last 29 years, the race has grown exponentially. The Turkey Trot welcomes over 6,000 participants on Thanksgiving morning. Our committee's goal has always been to bring people together and to raise money for worthy charities. Over the past 29 years we have done just that. We have donated well over a million dollars to various charities, and we have had runners and walkers from all across the country take part in the race. We are grateful for the thousands of participants who have joined us over the years, and we hope that our tradition of the Turkey Trot has become yours. We are honored that so many choose to spend Thanksgiving morning with us, as we run together to give back to wonderful charities.

A Kennekuk Members Only Event - MEET THE BACKPACK TRAIL  TRAIL:One of the most difficult in this part of the Midwest. Plenty of sheer beauty, and you could very easily get wet & muddy. Everything a trail runner could want. There is even a long stair climb. You will see things on this trail you won't see on other trails in the area. You CAN NOT run this trail alone if it is your first time. We would have to send out the bloodhounds! DIRECTIONS: Going South on Route 1 to Westville, turn left on East Main Street at the stoplight. You will see Julee's Shooting Star Tavern on the right (northwest comer). Follow the road for 7 .2 miles to the Forest Glen entrance. Tum left into the park and follow the road to the Maple Grove Lodge. PARTY: NEW LOCATION !! The party is at the Maple Grove Lodge. This will be a potluck style meal with beverages. The race is held to benefit the Hall Township Food Pantry. Whether you are looking for a serious 5K race, or just a fun holiday event to burn some of the Turkey Day calories, Santas On The Run is an event you don’t want to miss. Pre-registrants get their choice of a Hoodie, sweatshirt, or Long Sleeve T-Shirt. The value of the swag alone is worth more than the cost of registration. The gun goes off to start the race/walk at 10:00AM on Saturday November 28th at JFK School in Spring Valley (999 N Strong Ave). Friday registration and packet pick-up Nov 27th 4-6pm and Day of registration and packet pick up will be open from 8:30-9:30AM. For the serious runners, the course is a certified measured 5K. It is mostly flat with two gentle hills. The race will be chip timed with computerized results, and awards will be given to: Overall Male and Female Top Finishers, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to the following age groups: 6 and under, 7-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. The awards will be Christmas ornaments. There will be water/goodie stops at miles 1 and approximately 1.7. Traffic control will be provided to keep our runners safe. For walkers and runners that are out to have some fun, in addition to the typical water stops, we will feature Holiday goodie stops (cookies, candy and HOT CHOCOLATE), and at the end of the race…… there is more. In addition to the monetary proceeds of the race going to the Hall Food Pantry, in the Holiday spirit we are asking participants to donate non-perishable items and we have an incentive. Welcome to Merry Miles VII This is our annual December FREE fun event where we encourage you to be active in a busy month to maintain your health. This event was designed for participation from all types of people, from walkers to runners, adults to kids. You are able to record miles by walking, running, indoors or outdoors, or on an elliptical. It is all on the honor system if say you did it, I will believe you! That is why there are tiers, so the walkers that may earn only 1 or 2 chances will not feel like the higher mileage people who have 3 or 4 or even more chances in the basket will win all the prizes. This is to motivate you during what would be a busy time of the year. So, you can get your miles in the outdoors or indoors on a track or even treadmill, and even elliptical. About the only way we are not counting miles is by bike. This year we will again use a shared spreadsheet on "googlesheets". (Yes, there is an app for your phone). Once we get closer, I will email everyone a link to the sheet. If you are not able to figure out how to use it, you can report to me your miles and I will enter them for you. To explain the process a little more… report your miles you walk, run, got on a treadmill, track, or elliptical and watch your mileage climb. You don’t need to show me proof of your miles (unless you are that proud to get that many, then send them to me I will cheer you on), if you say you did them, then I will believe you. When you reach 25k (15.53 miles) your name will be entered on the wheel of names, when you reach 50k (31.06 miles) your name will go on a second time, then another at 75k (46.6 miles) and again another ticket at 100k (62.13 miles) and so on. Since we had some that really racked up the miles last few years, a 3rd tier was added. That tier being over 200k (124.27 miles), 225k (139.81 miles), and 250k (155.34 miles). I have been able maintain a 70% chance of winners in each tier but the prizes may have a few that are valued being higher. The "Top Earner" will be drawn to win automatically for the one with the most miles in 1 month. List of prizes will be numbered and the number drawn is their prize. To be fair to the ones that do not get high miles, 50k and under will be in one tier with either 1 or 2 tickets, ones with under 200k will have 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 tickets in another tier and ones with 200k and higher will have 8, 9, or 10 chances in 3rd tier. This was determined to be the fairest so the ones doing a mile a day won’t feel like they would not win since they didn’t have enough tickets. We wanted them to feel like they had as much chance as anyone. The difference is the prizes in basket “B” may be larger than basket “A” and basket “C” may be larger than “B”, but your chances of winning if in basket “A” or “B” should be just as good. Again, we will have bonus days (double of the reported miles). Knowing people will be the busiest Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, any miles you get those days will double. Just enter your normal miles in the column and the adjoining column will duplicate what you put in, doubling your miles. So, if you get 2 miles Christmas Eve, put in 2 and the sheet will add an additional 2 miles. This can help some reach the next tier or make up some ground if they fell behind because something prevented them from getting miles another day. This year the social committee will also be hosting a FREE Christmas Light fun run. You will be able to TRIPLE your miles that day for the ones that show up to run OR socialize. But must make an appearance to triple your miles. This is all in fun and hopes that people are motivated to get a few miles recorded on a couple of days that is usually occupied with other priorities. Once you win a prize your name is removed as we want to see more winners. At this time, we had a few donated items, and a few entries into the 2027 Run the Path 10k just to name a few prizes. You will have until 4JAN2027 to report your miles, so I have time to figure out the tiers and mark the names. Then at the January 2027 SRRL board meeting we will draw for the prizes. Join us for the 19th Annual Gingerbread 5K Run/Walk and celebrate the holiday season with one of Belleville's favorite traditions! Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to enjoy a festive course through downtown Belleville, while kids ages 3–12 can take part in the Ginger Loop, our fun-filled 1-mile run designed just for them! New this year! The entire event will take place at 510 W. Main Street, making it easier than ever to enjoy all the festivities. Welcome to the 63rd annual Frostbite Festival! This year's Frostbite Festival takes place on Sunday, December 6, 2026. There are two options for these out-and-back races: a 2 mile and a 10 mile race. All race finishers will receive a medal. AMF Springfield Lanes will host this year's Frostbite Festival. We are planning on the same race course, with the same roller coaster hills we know and love, with the same start and finish line. Guaranteed shirt deadline is November 3, 2026. No extra shirts will be ordered. You must register and select a size before the shirt deadline. Race registration will be open until 8:45am on race day. Race day packet pick up and registration will close at 8:45am on December 6, 2026. Registration is only through RunSignUp. No cash or checks accepted. No transfers or sales between persons are permitted. IN-PERSON INSTRUCTIONS In-person race day details are still being finalized and will follow all local and state regulations and recommendations on race day. Participants will receive an email with packet pick up and race day instructions before the race. If you do not start the in-person race, you will automatically be transferred to the virtual race following the in-person event. VIRTUAL INSTRUCTIONS You will be able to participate in the Frostbite Festival on your own time and on your own course. You choose the location and if you would like to run or walk. You do not have to run the race course. If you do choose to run the race course, please use extreme caution as that area can be heavily traveled by cars moving very fast. There will not be any course support, markings, or course marshals directing traffic. Also, please obey all parking signage and do not park in the Fit Club parking lot. Submitting Your Result Beginning December 6, 2026 after the in person race you will be able to submit your time. To submit your virtual time, click on the link that will be emailed to virtual participants. By your name, click EDIT TIME. You can submit results for one week, until December 13, 2026. There are no age group awards for the virtual event; however, your finish time must be entered to verify your participation, especially for Springfield Road Runners Club members who are participating in the Abe’s 50K Throwdown. PACKET PICKUP Packet pickup will be held on Saturday afternoon before race day. More specific packet pickup instructions will be provided closer to race day. You are welcome to have a friend or family member pick up your packet for you if you can’t make it. If you are unable to pick up your packet on Saturday, there will also be race morning packet pickup outside AMF Springfield Lanes from 8:00 am to 8:45 am. Any packets not picked up at the Saturday or race morning packet pickups will be forfeited unless the shipping option was selected. Packets by mail: Online registration includes an option to have your packet mailed for a separate $15 fee. We will prepare these packets to be mailed after race weekend.
