5K Run/Walk for the benefit of Illinois Special Olympics. This year's race will once again begin at The Rec at 9950 Bunkum Road in Fairview Heights. T-Shirts are included with registrations through October 1. Race-day registrations are not guaranteed a shirt. There will be pre event music to get you pumped up for your best 5k time and keep the fun going for post race celebrations.

Fraidy Cat 5k, 8k & Meow Mile October 25th, 2026 9:00am - Mile 9:20 am - 8K 9:30 am - 8k Oswego, IL EVENT INFORMATION - The 5K, 8K & Meow Mile races are chip-timed at the start and finish. The Meow Mile will start promptly at 9 a.m. at Prairie Point Elementary School, 3650 Grove Rd, Oswego, Illinois and the FraidyCat 5K and Ghost Run 8K will start at approximately 9:20 (Ghost Run) & 9:30 a.m (5k). The course will close at 11:30 a.m. COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED! Second Wind Running Club welcomes you to the Allerton Park Trail Run! Let's hit the trails!  A good portion of the 5.7-mile course follows the Sangamon River which has proven quite challenging over the years.  Runners may find hidden roots, ruts, sharp turns, and other obstacles.  We donate a portion of the proceeds back to Allerton Park for trail maintenance or park enhancements. Our donations have been used towards a railing at a dangerous spot, trail erosion control, recycle bins, water fountain bottle filling station, a new café in the visitor's center, and more. We feel quite fortunate that the park allows us to bring so many into it and pound the trails! Come join us for this wonderful family event that benefits the Tri-State Warrior Outreach, supporting unmet needs of area Veterans and their families since 2012. The 1 Mile Walk, 5k , 10k and Half Marathon start and end on the historic grounds of the IL Veterans Home, built in 1886. Participants will see extraordinary architecture, peaceful woods, the Deer Park, US Military memorials and go past the inspirational Avenue of Flags. Galena River Fall Half Marathon & 8kSaturday, October 31, 2026 Join us Saturday, October 31st for our 9th annual Galena River Fall Half Marathon & 8K!    This is a fast, flat half marathon along the scenic Galena River Trail. Racers will enjoy scenic views of the historic “Bluff City” along the Wabash River. Timed 5K and 10K distances will be offered in addition to the half marathon race. The start/finish line for the race will be at the Mt. Carmel Merchant’s Park located at the intersection of 4th and Market Streets. The race start time will be 8:00 am. All runners should be in the start corral by 7:50 am. We will close the course at 11:00 am CST. Runners who have not crossed the finish line before the 3-hour mark will not be timed. This chip timed 10k starts and finishes at the Putnam County Junior High School located at 13183 N 350th Ave, McNabb, IL 61335. It is an out and back 10k on nicely paved county roads surrounded by beautiful country scenery. It is possible to see deer, turkey, and eagles while running. The course is a mix of hills and flat areas. Water stations will be available on the course. Strollers and walkers welcome, but please no headphones. There will be volunteers at each mile marker and intersection for traffic control, but the course will be open to local traffic. Emergency crew coverage available. There is a two-hour time limit on the course. Post-race food and beverages provided. Race sweatshirt guaranteed to all participants who are pre-registered by October 11th, 2026. Join us on November 7th at Danenberger Family Vinyards for the 14th Annual Springfield Marathon, the Harvest Wind Half Marathon & the Harvest Wind 10K. All distances start at 8 a.m. The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifing route and the Harvest Wind Half Marathon are both USATF certified routes. You must be present to receive your award so check with the Awards Tent to see if your time qualifies you for an award. Our 12th Annual 5K race is a fundraiser for the nonprofit youth program, Edwardsville Wrestling Club. EWC's Mission is to enrich the lives of our wrestlers and their families through the sport of wrestling. The 5K race starts at Edwardsville High School, follows MCT trails, and leads back to the Jon Davis Wrestling Center. Awards will be given to the Top 3 finishers in their respective categories (Male & Female 10&Under, 11-12, 13-15, 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, and 55+). There will also be trophies and gift card prizes for the Top Male and Female finishers. The Kids Obstacle Course Fun Run will start immediately following awards. The obstacle course will be run around the Jon Davis Wrestling Center with 5 obstacles(including a bounce house!). Runners will be separated by age groups. Each participant will get a medal after completing the course. Our post race party will consist of games, hot chocolate, popcorn, and bounce house!
