Galena River Fall Half Marathon & 8kSaturday, October 31, 2026 Join us Saturday, October 31st for our 9th annual Galena River Fall Half Marathon & 8K!    This is a fast, flat half marathon along the scenic Galena River Trail. The 27th annual Rattlesnake Master Run for the Prairie includes a 10K and 5K run and 5K walk that benefits Grand Prairie Friends, a non-profit land trust and conservation group in central Illinois.  This race circles the beautiful 130-acre Meadowbrook Park and prairie in Urbana, Illinois and includes some trail running. This chip timed 10k starts and finishes at the Putnam County Junior High School located at 13183 N 350th Ave, McNabb, IL 61335. It is an out and back 10k on nicely paved county roads surrounded by beautiful country scenery. It is possible to see deer, turkey, and eagles while running. The course is a mix of hills and flat areas. Water stations will be available on the course. Strollers and walkers welcome, but please no headphones. There will be volunteers at each mile marker and intersection for traffic control, but the course will be open to local traffic. Emergency crew coverage available. There is a two-hour time limit on the course. Post-race food and beverages provided. Race sweatshirt guaranteed to all participants who are pre-registered by October 11th, 2026. Race and Course Information The Forge Trail Run Festival will embrace the adventure and challenge of late-fall, mid-west trail running with 10K, 20K, 30K, and 60K events.  The races will be run on single/double-track trails in The Forge and adjoining trails, within the woods and on some gravel around the historic Lemont Quarries and I&M Canal. The courses will start and finish within the Forge.  The courses wind through the single and double track trails within the woods and some gravel trails around the historic Lemont Quarries and I&M Canal throughout the Forge and adjoining trails. The Oak Brook Park District is proud to host the Turkey Dri Tri. Don't miss this triathlon for ages 12+ and all skill levels.  This Triathlon features: Row on Concept 2 Rowers (2000 meters)Cycle on Air Assault bikes (2.5 miles)Run/Walk 10 laps on our indoor track (1.25 miles)Each participant will be assigned a heat based on his or her gender and age, and confirmations will be sent out the week before the event. This flat and fast course weaves through scenic Lincolnwood and features races for all ages and abilities, including a 5K Fitness Walk and Kid's Drumstick Dash (ages six and younger). A Kennekuk Members Only Event - MEET THE BACKPACK TRAIL  TRAIL:One of the most difficult in this part of the Midwest. Plenty of sheer beauty, and you could very easily get wet & muddy. Everything a trail runner could want. There is even a long stair climb. You will see things on this trail you won't see on other trails in the area. You CAN NOT run this trail alone if it is your first time. We would have to send out the bloodhounds! DIRECTIONS: Going South on Route 1 to Westville, turn left on East Main Street at the stoplight. You will see Julee's Shooting Star Tavern on the right (northwest comer). Follow the road for 7 .2 miles to the Forest Glen entrance. The 18th Annual F^3 Lake Half Marathon & 5k is Chicago's Original Winter Half Marathon. Each year, thousands of runners flock to this community-built event, gathering in the warmth of Soldier Field's United Club before tackling wind & weather along a lakefront course that features splits every 5km. A must for anyone preparing for a spring marathon or just resolving to stay fit throughout the new year. F^3 sold out in 2016-2020 and 2023-present. Every registrant will once again receive one of our great hoodies and a medal! We will return to the warm confines of Soldier Field's United Club! The UC opens at 8 a.m. Gear check is available. The half marathon starts at 10:01 a.m. and consists of self-seeded waves in quick succession. Get ready for Chicago's premiere indoor triathlon! The top scorers will be those who swim, bike, and run the furthest distance in a set amount of time. Come ready to race a:10 minute swim20 minute bike15 minute run If you haven't yet qualified for nationals, you're in luck because this is your last chance to do so! This indoor triathlon is a qualifier for the U.S. Collegiate Club Triathlon Nationals each year. The first 75 people to sign up get a free Wildcat Indoor swim cap.

There will be a Sweeper at the race that will maintain a 20-minute per mile pace. Please stay ahead of the sweeper to be guaranteed an official time at the finish.  Course marshals will be on course until the sweeper passes them. We will hand out overall and age group winner awards in the main festival tent starting at around 12:30 pm until around 3 pm. 2026 Muddy Shamrock Results Woods, dirt, mud, roots, and maybe some other adventurous trail stuff will be experienced at the 6th annual Muddy Shamrock Trail Races @ The Forge. And now that we've earned the 4th leaf in our clover, the race is now named the MUDDY SHAMROCK! This early-season trail race will be run on wooded single & double-track trails with awesome scenery around the historic Lemont Quarries. Both races will traverse the single-track MTB trails within the woods and some gravel trails throughout the Forge and adjoining trail systems.
