FXBG Trail 10 Miler

Fredericksburg, VA
The Quarry 10.2 miler is the fifth race in the FXBG Trail series. This race begins with a peaceful stretch along the Rappahannock River, where the Beach Trail hugs the water and the sound of the river sets the rhythm for your stride. The opening miles are smooth and scenic — a calm, steady start that invites you to settle in and enjoy the view before the course begins to build. As you move away from the river, the middle miles introduce a series of rolling hills that keep things lively. These ups and downs are playful but purposeful, testing your pacing and leg turnover while offering just enough recovery on the descents to stay strong. Then comes the finale — one big climb that stands between you and the finish. It’s the defining challenge of the day, steady and demanding, asking for your last reserves of grit. Crest the top, and you’ll carry that hard-earned momentum toward the finish line, knowing you conquered the course from riverbank to summit.

New River Trail Challenge

Max Meadows, VA
The race consists of three stages along, and in, the New River. The trail is flat with a crushed cinder surface, and the river flows smoothly with small rapids under normal conditions. The race begins with a 40-mile out and back bike leg, followed by a 12.1-mile downriver kayak paddle, and ends with a half marathon run along the river for a total of 65.2 miles. Although the race is long, it's perfect for beginners and accomplished athletes due to its flattish nature. Participants may compete solo or in teams of two or three. We ask that you thoroughly read the rules and guidelines (PDF) before the race. They cover stage meeting times, transitions, requirements, courses, water and aid stations, and recommendations to make your race as trouble-free as possible. If you have any questions, please post them on the Facebook page — the New River Trail family is a friendly group, and someone from Virginia State Parks or the community will be happy to provide answers. Reston Triathlon

Reston, VA
Since 1984, the Reston Triathlon has been a staple in our community. It opens with a 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon, followed by a 25-mile bike ride and a 10K run on local paths. The Olympic distance event has challenged athletes from around the country and has affectionately been called the Reston Triathlon World Championship. During the pandemic, the previous board worked tirelessly to keep the tradition alive. Unfortunately, in 2021, they announced they could no longer financially or logically sustain the Reston Triathlon. CORE Foundation, working closely with the previous board, is thrilled to revive the event and continue the legacy. The Reston Triathlon made its comeback debut on September 10, 2023! This year's race date is September 28, 2025. CORE Foundation is grateful for the loyal athletes and local community. They received overwhelming support while pursuing the opportunity to restore this community event. To join our list of wonderful partners, please email
