The Frosty Squatchy is a Trail Party for runners and hikers of all ages and paces. Join us on January 30, 2027 for the 10th annual Frosty Fat Sass! Runners and hikers can sign-up for a 5k, 3 hours or 6 hours. The 5K loop starts and finishes at the Turtleback Rock Picnic Area off of Walker Road in West Orange, NJ at the South Mountain Reservation. Funds raised at this trail party will be donated to the South Mountain Conservancy, an awesome local non-profit that preserves the South Mountain Reservation and provides great educational and recreational opportunities for the community! We have raised over $20,000 for the Conservancy since we started up in 2018! (Because this event is a fundraiser, we will NOT OFFER REFUNDS OR DEFERRALS. Information: The Eighth Annual Sea Turtle Race will take place on at the scenic Orange Reservoir in West Orange. This race is nicknamed the “Cold Stun Run” to highlight our busiest time of year that usually starts in November and December. During this time of year our hospital will fill with sick sea turtles that are cold stunned from failing to migrate south before temperatures become too cold. The 5k race will start at 8:30 am. The 1.7 mile Family Fun Walk starts at 8:35 am. Refreshments will be available after the race at Clipper Pavilion. Discounted admission to the Turtle Back Zoo will be available to participants that present their race id at the zoo admission ticket booth. The Race to Cure Sarcoma (RTCS) New Jersey brings together hundreds of members of the community who have been impacted by this disease. Join the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo and Fleet Feet Montclair for a wild morning of miles and fun! 📅 Sunday, October 18 ⏰ 8:30 AM 📍 Essex County Turtle Back Zoo Get ready to waddle, run, or walk your way through a 3.5-mile course (or take the 2ish mile Safari Shortcut) before crossing the finish line inside the Zoo for a one-of-a-kind celebration! 🎟️ Post-run Essex County Turtle Back Zoo admission is included with registration. Stick around after the run to explore and say hello to the animals. 🎁 The first 300 participants to register will receive custom pom-pom beanie (a $35 value) This event is perfect for the whole family—whether you sprint like a cheetah, stroll like a tortoise, or waddle like a penguin, everyone’s invited to join the fun. 👟 Costumes, animal spirit, and family smiles are highly encouraged!
