We hope you can join us for the Cavalier 5K & 1K! The races will be held at The Heights with the 5K start and the finish on campus.  The 1K is entirely on campus. These races are open to all Heights alumni, parents, and students as well as their family and friends. Please register in advance. Registration includes participation in the timed race, an official shirt, and the cookout afterwards.  Want to bring the whole family? Multi-person pricing is available- $65 for 3+ registrants. Scroll the bottom of the sign-up form to select multi-person and register additional runners. All runners must be registered. When register multiple runners it will give you the option to choose the 5K or the 1K for each.  Non-runners are welcome to come cheer and join in the cookout. The Scotland Juneteenth 5K will traverse the historic Black neighborhood of Scotland, including the 100-year-old Scotland AME Zion Church on 7 Locks Road in Potomac. The event will benefit the rebuilding of the church, which was flooded in 2019, and needs to be rebuilt. Age-Handicapped 4-Miler is an annual race held every July 4th to celebrate Independence Day and the club's founding. Unlike a standard race, it features a staggered start based on age and gender, aiming to have all participants finish closer together. The Goal: The "winner" is the first person to physically cross the finish line, regardless of their net running time. The race uses specialized handicap tables based on national age-group records.   This event is part of the DCRRC's Bunion Derby Series; for more information/rules, visit the race series rules page. Honoring a Hero's Legacy: General Thaddeus Kosciuszko was a Polish, Lithuanian, and American hero. His unwavering committment to liberty, freedom, and equality during Polish and Lithuanian Uprisings and the American Revolutionary War, has impacted generations. We invite you to be a part of the Kosciuszko Freedom Run, where we pay tribute to his remarkable contributions and continue his legacy. Play a role in carrying it forward! The National Capital 20 Miler is Washington, DC’s premier fall marathon tune-up race. Taking place on the C&O Towpath, the race offers runners a flat, fast out-and-back course with water and nutrition support at regular intervals. Runners may choose the 20 Miler or 5 Miler option. All runners receive race swag. Members of DC Road Runners receive $15 off the price of the 20 Miler and $5 off the price of the 5 Miler. The lowest-priced half-marathon in America! Still a full 13.1 miles and full-service on quality and support! This is race #2 of the DCRR Snowball Series. In past years, it's been the Gar Williams Half Marathon; now it honors all the Club's founders. Course: Out-and-back along C&O Canal Towpath. Previously-USATF certified course, click here for map. We intend to recertify the course before race day, subject to completion of construction in the vicinity of Canal Lock 5. We'll make sure the course is accurately measured to account for the slightly-different path through the construction site if they're still digging. Water Stops: There will be two water stops: one at Lock 10 and one at Lock 6. These locations correspond to approximately mile 3, 5, 8, and 10 of the race. You will run by each water stop twice. Registration: Online registration only. Timing and Results: Timing and results will be compiled on a real-time basis and friends and family will be able to track runners throughout the race via social media. We will provide a link for live results in our final instructions to runners.. Fees: Online advance registration through 24 hours before the race (9:00 AM on 12/12). After that, late registration will be open until the moment the race begins, at a slightly higher price. ¶ Advance registration: $0 for DCRRC members, $10 for non-members. ¶ Late registration: $5 for DCRRC members, $15 for non-members. Refund policy for Snowball Series: In the event the race is canceled, pre-paid non-members will receive a credit to be applied to a future Snowball Series race. T-shirts and Medals: Come on people, it's a $10 race... No, there are no t-shirts or medals. Directions: Take the Capital Beltway (I-495), to the Clara Barton Parkway headed west, outside the beltway. Make a right on the first exit which is for both Carderock and the Naval Surface Warfare Center (Carderock Division). Turn left at the stop sign at the top of the ramp to cross the parkway. After passing under the canal, turn right and proceed to the last parking lot. If it's full, park in one of the other lots and walk back to our registration area. Volunteers: We need many volunteers to help coordinate the race events. Please "pay it forward" by helping if you're not running, or have a friend or relative volunteer. Remember, this counts as your Snowball Series volunteer requirement.
