Weather Update! Due to the snow storm the race is delayed 2 hours.  The half marathon will start at 10:30am and the 10K at 10:45am. Join us on March 14, 2026 for Run the Green!  The half marathon and 10K courses are out and backs on the Green River Trail, and along the way you'll enjoy scenery of the river and golf course.  Flat and fast you won't want to miss this race.  All participants receive a commemorative shirt, medal, free photo downloads, and post race hot soup!

All proceeds raised and charitable contributions collected will be used to benefit the “NOAC Geared to HEAR Fund” which was created by local Doctorate of Audiology students in order to provide hearing aids and hearing healthcare for an Akron community member in need. The NOAC Geared to HEAR fund covers the entire cost of a new set of hearing aids and all of the associated care that this community member would need in relation to their hearing in one year.

Each session features a 300-yard buoy loop where you'll swim with others at your pace. A coach in a kayak leads the workout from the start buoy, guiding you through an open water-style interval session—think pool training meets real-world swim skills. On some nights, a second coach paddles near shore to work with newer swimmers. The Rainbow Weekend 5K is returning during Main Street Kent's sixth annual Rainbow Weekend, which takes place each October in Kent, Ohio, to celebrate our local LGBTQ+ community. This year's theme is Pride and Joy—two powerful reminders of what our LGBTQ+ community represents. Join your community of LGBTQ+ folks and allies on Saturday, October 17, at 11:00 am for a 5K walk and fun run. The route will take participants through the trees of the Portage Hike & Bike Trail and will start and end at North Water Brewing Company, where an End of the Rainbow Party will be taking place at the finish line. Whether you’re running, walking, strolling, or rolling, the Rainbow Weekend 5K is open for all. The race and End of the Rainbow Party are family-friendly. We welcome children to run in the race with an adult and/or cheer on participants at the finish line! Please note that the race route is accessible, but the path from the finish line to North Water Brewing Company is not. The Christmas Rush will celebrate 44 years on December 12. The race features a 5k run/walk and a 10k run. along the scenic green river. NEW 10k Course! The 10k will start on the west side of the Green River, will cross over and finish on the east side. Both the 5k and 10k will finish in the same location. Please join us for our annual spring race which will take place on Saturday, Apr. 11, 2026. The race, named after Kent State University's unofficial mascot, will be available for anyone to participate. The traditional 5k course is a loop course which begins and ends near the entrance to the Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus of Kent State University. The course will be marked if you are in Kent and would like to run the actual course. The course takes you through the campus via the Esplanade.  A few small hills adds to the experience but be on the lookout for the infamous black squirrels!  On race day, post your photo or video on your social media account and tag us at #KSU2026BlackSquirrel.
