The Ocho" 8 Hour Adv Race

MARCH 28th 2025   Hanging Rock State Park, North Carolina. Shelter at the lakeside parking lot. Disciplines: Hiking(6-8 miles), MTB biking(12-16miles) and a second hike(3-6miles) Hanging Rock is part of the Sauratown Mountains - the mountains away from the mountains. The park boasts the highest point in that system with Moore’s Knob at 2,579 feet elevation. The park has more than 20 miles of hiking trails that climb onto spectacular views and some lead to picturesque waterfalls. The single-track bike trails are challenging and enjoyable. This race has No intended water section on the course, so stay dry and come get your race season off to a great start!   The 8 hour race is designed for the beginner racer who wants a taste of the longer races but over a more manageable distance. It’s a multi-stage endurance experience through some of North Carolina’s most beautiful landscapes.Every stage will push you harder. Every finish will make you stronger. And by the end, you won’t just have finished…you’ll have conquered.  We kick things off at the Green Heron Ale House with a 30-mile bike ride that takes you out to the base of Sauratown Mountain, climbing the challenging Sauratown Mountain Road before looping back to the Ale House. From there, you’ll transition to the first run, heading up to the Hanging Rock bluffs trail and making your way toward the lake. The first 500-yard swim takes you across the lake, followed by a short run back to the swim start for a second 500-yard crossing. Hat City Dash

This race will start and finish on Kenosia Avenue. Runners will begin the race heading northbound until they reach Christopher Columbus Avenue. From there, runners will continue around the cul-de-sac and head back towards the start/finish line. The course is flat and will have a hydration table set up around the halfway point. There will be a post race party and awards at Elicit Brewing following the race.  Every dollar raised from this race will go toward supporting an officer’s child’s higher education fund. At the end of the event, a recipient will be randomly chosen by an independent third party. A free beer from Elicit Brewing will be given to any runner age 21+, with valid proof of sign up.  There will be plenty of parking available on race day at the Elicit Brewing lot, located at 15 Backus Avenue. Early bib pickup will be available on Saturday, June 6th at Elicit Brewing.
