Van Metre 5K Run

The Van Metre 5K Run was established in 1992 to benefit Children's National Hospital. The event includes a One Mile Fun Run/Walk inviting everyone from serious runners, occasional joggers, and walkers of all skill levels to participate. To date the Van Metre 5K Run has raised over $3.5 million dollars in support of Children's National. Race day activities include an interactive warm up for the kids, arts and crafts and face painting. The post-race celebrations include cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall male and female runners and additional prizes are presented to the top two male and female runners in every age group. There are a variety of other raffle and door prizes.
