The Bill Scott Memorial 5K Walk/Run

On April 24, 2021, William "Bill" Scott Jr., passed away suddenly. At the time of passing, Bill was the President of the Syracuse Teachers Association (STA) representing approximately 3,000 Syracuse City School District staff and 20,000 students. Prior to his presidency, Bill spent 10 years as a school social worker and 5 years as the 4th Vice President of STA. Throughout all the stages of his career, Bill worked tirelessly to advocate for his colleagues, students, and their families and he was a fierce advocate for all! In 2022, we hosted our inaugural Bill Scott Memorial 5K Walk/Run at Burnet Park, a place where Bill frequented for his own running. Through this race, monies have been raised to be put towards a scholarship for a Syracuse City School District senior who planned to major in Social Work or the Human Service Profession. We will continue honoring Bill's memory and legacy by hosting our 5th annual race on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 9 AM. This year our race will be
