Race for Chase! Chase just turned 10, and on October 3 we’re celebrating him with miles, community, and a whole lot of hope. In the fall of 2025, Chase was diagnosed with pediatric chordoma, an incredibly rare cancer affecting only about 10 children each year in the United States. After an extensive surgery earlier this year, Chase and his family are now navigating what comes next. Chordoma is difficult to treat and frequently returns after surgery and radiation. If it does return, treatment options are extremely limited. With so few children diagnosed each year, research dollars are scarce. But research also represents something incredibly powerful for Chase and other kids like him: the possibility of better treatments. So we’re running. Chase’s mom, Cara, has been part of the Tucson running and triathlon community for nearly two decades.
