Welcome to Midsommar: Sun Loop Ultra, a late-July test of pure grit, endurance, and psychological fortitude. Set during the absolute peak of the summer heat, Midsommar challenges runners to conquer a deceivingly straightforward 5-mile loop under the relentless July sun. Whether you are tackling your very first 5-mile run or attempting to survive 100 miles in the midsommar glare, every single distance will test what you’re made of. There are no dark forests to hide in, no cool mountain breeze coming to save you—just you, the loop, and the sun. ☀️ The Challenge You will run a repeating 5-mile loop starting and ending at The Maypole—our central hub, main aid station, and race party HQ. Because every loop brings you right back through the heart of the event, you’ll never be more than a few miles from ice, liquid hydration, and a cheering crowd. But don't let the convenience fool you: stepping back out into the heat for one more lap is where the real mental battle begins. Distances Offered 5 Miles (1 Loop) - A fast, fiery summer dash. 15 Miles (3 Loops) - The ultimate hot-weather workout. 50K (6 Loops) - A true test of heat management. 50 Miles (10 Loops) - Halfway to insanity. 100 Miles (20 Loops) - The ultimate Midsommar rite of passage. Night 5 Miles (1 Loop) - Suns gone but the loop isn't Night 50k (6 loops) - Knock the 50k out at night or maybe add it on from another morning distance Survival & Aid Stations The heat is the true competitor here, and we take runner safety seriously The Maypole (Main HQ): Fully stocked with cold fluids, electrolyte brews, ice, solid fuels, and hot food starting in the evening. Ice & Cooling: Ice bandanas and cooling stations will be available to keep your core temp down loop after loop. Drop Bag Access: Because it’s a 5-mile loop, you have access to your personal gear, nutrition, and crew every single lap. Inside Respite: On-site there is an indoor, single restroom available if needed for changing or comfort. There is an inside AIR-CONDITIONED area available as well if needed to take a break from the heat or need medical attention. The inside area is not available for crew setup - but open, no restrictions, if needed.
