The Epilepsy Alliance Ohio along with OhioHealth will be hosting the Annual Living with Epilepsy Seminar on Saturday, October 24th. Please join us from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the as we discuss topics that go beyond seizures. People living with epilepsy, their caregivers and friends, along with professionals in the field of neurology are encouraged to attend this series of seminars focusing on the latest treatments and trends in epilepsy. A variety of sessions will be offered by leading professionals in the field, this conference you don't want to miss! The conference will take place at The OhioHealth David P Blom Administrative Campus, located at 3430 OhioHealth Parkway, Columbus, OH 43202. Registration is $10 for the conference only or $30 for the conference and CEU's. The conference includes a continental breakfast and seminars. If you are unable to pay the registration fee, please call 614-725-1031. Online registration ends 10/23/2026 at 6pm however registration will be available at the door as space allows. Please notify us if you have any special needs such as interpreter services. Presentations and discussions will focus on quality of life, anti-seizure medications, transition of care, SUDEP, and many more! Nurses - Any continuing education activity that has been approved by other licensing boards will be accepted by the Ohio Board of Nursing for all nurses in the State of Ohio. They will then shine light on what the future holds with the latest treatment options. This session will be highly enlightening, informative, and interactive. 9:45 AM - 10:30 AM Concurrent Session 1 The Influence of Epilepsy on Cognition Dr. Scott Magnunson, OhioHealth Tyler Roman, Speech-Language Pathologist, OhioHealth During this session, we will explore the affect epilepsy can have on memory, attention, language functioning, and cognitive skills in general. How we measure cognitive function and how we improve cognitive functioning. Wellness in the Workplace Diane Jaquish, Esq., Rosenberg & Ball Co. LPA Rose Lynch, Cypress Christian School Kurtis Williams During this session, three people living with epilepsy will share their stories and how they have overcome the challenges that seizures present to achieve success in the workplace. 10:40 AM - 11:25 AM Concurrent Session 2 Women and Epilepsy: Practical Answers to Common Questions Dr. Sarita Maturu, DO, OSU Wexner Medical Center This session will focus on discussing birth control option and pre-conception planning, managing pregnancy while taking anti-seizure medications, and discussing how hormones affect seizures. Epilepsy Wellness in Adolescents: SUDEP and Transition of Care Dr. Jamie Twanow, Nationwide Children's Hospital Transition and transfer to your adult doctor is both an exciting and risky time for young adults with epilepsy.
