Some races are about your split times. This is not one of them.
Laufvergnügen is a German fun run in the truest sense of both words — a real course, a real clock, real awards for the fast folks, and then an Oktoberfest at the finish line that most people would show up for even if there were no running involved.
Brats. Warm soft pretzels. Handmade mustard that people ask us about for months afterward. Sauerkraut, fresh buns, and a crowd of runners in alpine hats deciding whether to go back for seconds. (They do.)
It's late October in Washington. The weather is finally good. Come run something, then stay a while.Last year the federal government shut down, and it took our race with it.
We moved everything online, mailed the shirts and medals, honored what we could, and told everyone we'd see them next year.
