Why run down when you can run up? The Upville Mile is a 1-mile road race in Paris Mountain State Park, going one way - up - on the steepest part of Paris Mountain State Park Road. The route is one of the toughest, if not the toughest uphill 1-mile road segments in the Upstate, including nearby Altamont Road, and the road going up Sassafras Mountain. If you're looking for a running challenge, this event is for you. C'mon out to the park for a practice run and see what you think. With an average grade of 8.2%, and an elevation gain of 460 feet in just a mile, it surely will not disappoint. John Hart, Race Director
