About the Stair Climb: The Gift of Adoption Michigan Stepping Up Climb is a unique, challenging fitness event in which participants climb stairs in a test of endurance. Whether climbing to improve timing or to simply reach new heights, this event is a great way to spend the morning with co-workers, friends and family while supporting bringing children together with their forever families. Climb as many floors as desired or set a goal to reach either the 14th or 28th story at your own pace. However you participate, join us while raising much-needed funds for Michigan Adoption grants. We challenge all participants to raise $100 for Gift of Adoption. 100% of all donations you raise are tax-deductible and will be used for adoption assistance grants to unite children in vulnerable circumstances with their waiting parents in Michigan. For Out of Town Climbers: we have reserved a block of rooms at the Westin Hotel (1500 Town Center in Southfield - in the same parking lot as the event) for a price of $149 a night. About Gift of Adoption: You don’t have to adopt to give a child a family. Gift of Adoption awards adoption grants to complete adoptions of children in vulnerable circumstances – giving them permanent families and the chance to thrive. As of December 31, 2025, Gift of Adoption has awarded $648,920 in adoption assistance grants across Michigan to complete the adoptions of 201 children. Each year, Gift of Adoption receives requests from approximately 21 qualified families in Michigan — representing a funding need of $134,400. The goal of the Michigan Chapter’s all-volunteer board is to raise enough funds to help complete adoptions for every qualified application. 100% of gifts to the Michigan Chapter fund adoption grants, uniting children with permanent, loving families. Nationwide, Gift of Adoption is only able to fund 2 out of 3 qualified applicants putting adoption out of reach for many families who otherwise would adopt. Gifts of any amount make a tremendous difference in our ability to remove the financial barrier to adoption and there are many ways to give including online, stock, IRA and Donor Advised Funds.
